Top 20 advisory firm bets on mid-market white space
Aprio, an Accounting Today Top 20 CPA-led advisory firm with 3,200+ accountants and 50+ service lines, was watching a growing share of its mid-market clients outgrow QuickBooks Online and Desktop, but reluctant with the cost and migration requirements of traditional ERPs. After signing on as a preferred implementation partner with Intuit Enterprise Suite, the firm stood up a dedicated practice in seven months and now serves complex multi-entity clients across the US, including clients running 45+ entities and 65 million dollars in revenue, while offering advisory services, in addition to compliance.

Aprio's clients with complex needs have traditionally had only one option: traditional ERPs. Through our partnership with Intuit, we now offer a robust option through Intuit Enterprise Suite that matches the complexity to the actual need, which has led to a much better client experience.
Mid-market clients trapped between QuickBooks and traditional ERPs
"Early on, entrepreneurs are focused on the basics such as writing checks, cashing checks, and invoicing customers," says Aprio Partner and Managing Director of Technology Advisory Services, Jordan Fladell. It's a pattern the firm sees across its client base. The setup works in year one, but it becomes technical debt the moment the business adds complexity.
Clients managing 10 to 15 QuickBooks Online or Desktop instances alongside Excel-based consolidations saw a clear opportunity to streamline their monthly close and simplify tax prep. What they needed was a solution sized to their stage of growth, one that closed the gap between mid-market accounting and full enterprise systems. As Fladell explains, growing firms often "want functionality that maps to where the business actually is, without taking on more than they need." Intuit Enterprise Suite met clients in that middle ground, giving Aprio a path to recommend sooner. The result: CPAs spent less time on manual consolidation work and more time on the advisory conversations that drive client relationships.
Shared vision and early partnership commitment
According to Director of Technology Advisory Patrick Ball, when Aprio was first introduced to the Suite in 2024, "we found it immediately addressed what was missing from QuickBooks Online and Desktop for clients growing into multi-entity complexity, particularly around consolidated reporting and intercompany transactions." Aprio's leadership saw this as an opportunity to partner with a vendor whose roadmap aligned with where they wanted to take their own advisory practice, and to do so before the market caught up. As Fladell describes it, "our firm thinks like an owner, and the chance to set what great looks like in the mid-market space was too good to pass up."
Intuit Enterprise Suite offered a meaningfully shorter on-ramp for clients because the user experience carries from QuickBooks and the data migration friction is significantly lower for clients already in the Intuit ecosystem. That ecosystem fit, covering Bill Pay, Payroll, Payments, and others, made the partnership even more compelling for Aprio.
We have a client running over 45 entities and north 65 million dollars in revenue on Intuit Enterprise Suite. They now save 80 hours a month on manual reporting and can focus on reinvesting that time on growing their business.
Dedicated practice and a joint go-to-market advisory uplift
In seven months, Aprio built an Intuit practice from the ground up with sales, implementation, client success, and solutions architecture teams that mirror Intuit's own. The two firms now operate a joint co-sell motion built on a shared sales playbook.
The advisory benefits immediately reflected in the client base. According to Ball, "one of our clients, managing over 35 locations was in need of both accounting cleanup and hands-on product guidance, moved to Intuit Enterprise Suite with Aprio's support." What began as an implementation and reconciliation engagement has since grown into a deep accounting and tax relationship, with Aprio's forensic accounting services on the roadmap.
Beyond consolidation, Aprio's clients are also leveraging Intuit Enterprise Suite's AI capabilities such as Payments Agent to automate accounts receivable collection, freeing up additional hours versus manual reporting, and turning routine follow-up into time spent on strategy.
Scaling AI-driven advisory across industry verticals
Aprio sees the next phase as a deepening of both the partnership and its own AI-enabled advisory capability. The firm has committed over $300 million to AI internally and views Intuit Enterprise Suite as the natural extension of that investment at the client level. Ball expects Aprio's CPAs to lean increasingly on Finance AI and other Intuit Enterprise Suite AI capabilities to surface the story behind a client's numbers rather than digging for it, raising the floor on what every advisor in the firm can deliver. The plan also includes expanding into Intuit Accountant Suite to consolidate client data across the Intuit footprint, building out vertical expertise where Aprio already has industry density, and competing to climb from a top 20 firm into the top 10 over the next three years.
